Unit Coordinator
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Healthcare administrative professional responsible for the surgical department serving as the central communication point for patients, families, and medical staff. This position manages a variety of administrative and clerical duties. This is a new position and duties and responsibilities are being determined.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages all clerical aspects of the patient flow process, ensuring all necessary forms are completed, and coordinating patient transport to and from the operating room and/or other departments.
• Acts as the primary receptionist for the surgical department, answering and directing phone calls, responding to patient and visitor inquiries, and relaying messages and information accurately to physicians and nursing staff.
• Monitors and orders medical supplies, equipment, and forms, ensuring the department is adequately stocked to provide care.
• Performs various clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, photocopying, and faxing documents.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a medical office or clerical role preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is highly beneficial.
• Strong organization, and attention to detail skills are crucial for managing multiple tases in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, customer service and teamwork skills are necessary for interacting with diverse groups of people including patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Able to remain calm under pressure, exhibit a professional demeanor, and be adaptable to continuously changing situations is highly valued.
