ED Technician
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under close/general supervision by licensed personnel the Emergency Department Tech will perform a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in an urgent emergency room setting. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about patient care and is eager to make a positive impact in the lives of patients and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates and assists with care as directed.
• Cleans and stocks carts, rooms, and changes linen as required.
• Assists with transport of patients to other departments.
• Maintains appropriate documentation.
• Maintains patient safety.
• Prepares patients for examinations.
• Consults with and keeps team informed of activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
• Obtains vital signs as directed.
• Assists nurses and physicians with procedures as requested.
• Obtain lab samples.
• Initiate IV cannulation.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education
o High school diploma or equivalent required
o Experience as an ED Tech preferred
o BLS certification
• Experience
o One-year current experience within the last three years in a comparable job preferred
• Qualifications
o Able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
o Effective communication with patients and team members
