PGH Offering Smoking Cessation Classes
January 8, 2009
Start the new year off smoke free! As part of Putnam General Hospital's switch to a tobacco-free campus, smoking cessation classes are being offered to the public. The Freedom From Smoking program is a 7 week course designed by the American Lung Association.
Classes meet once a week for an hour, and the cost of the class includes a workbook and other informative materials. Classes are held in a small group setting. Topics covered during the class include: medicines that can help you stop smoking, lifestyle changes to make quitting easier, preparing for your Quit Day, managing stress, avoiding weight gain, developing a new self-image, and staying smoke free for good.
Smoking Cessation classes will begin on Monday, January 26th at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the class should contact Jill Johnson, Respiratory Therapy, at 706-485-6770, ext. 416. The cost for the class is $50.00 and it will be held at Putnam General Hospital.
