Benefits
At Putnam General Hospital, our goal is to provide our employees with a comprehensive, affordable benefits program that supports your health, well-being, and financial security. We are committed to offering valuable benefits and services designed to help you thrive both at work and in your personal life.
Eligible employees and their dependents can choose from two medical plans utilizing PGH providers and the First Health Network. Both plans provide quality health coverage, pharmacy, and dental benefits for one low price.
Vision Insurance through VSP is available to full-time employees. This plan allows you to save on everything from vision exams to contacts lenses to eyeglasses.
PGH provides full-time employees with $15,000 in employer-paid life insurance at no cost. In addition, $2,000 in dependent life insurance is provided at no cost to eligible employees. Employees also have the option to purchase additional life insurance coverage to meet their individual and family needs.
Save on eligible healthcare expenses with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). By setting aside pre-tax dollars, you can reduce your taxable income while paying for qualified medical expenses. For 2026, employees may contribute up to $3,400 to their healthcare FSA.
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to employees and their families at no charge. The EAP is a confidential resource for work-life solutions, legal guidance, financial resources, online support and counseling.
Supplemental policies through Allstate are available and include Short-term Disability, Cancer, Accident, and Supplemental Health policies.
PGH offers full- and part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week the opportunity to participate in the 403(B) Retirement Plan administered by Lincoln Financial. There is no waiting period; you may enroll upon hire. The Hospital will match dollar for dollar on the first 2% and you will be vested in the employer contribution after one year of service.
We are helping our employees grow professionally by investing in their future. We offer tuition reimbursement to support continuing education and career development. Whether you are earning a degree, pursuing a certification, or building new skills, we are here to help you achieve your goals while advancing your career with us.
Great employees thrive when they have the time and flexibility to enjoy life outside of work. This is why we are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance and have recently enhanced our time off options. We provide Paid Time Off and Holiday pay for full- and part-time employees. PTO increases with years of service as follows:
19 Days with Zero to 5 years
24 Days with 6 to 10 years
27 Days with 11 to 20 years
29 Days with 21 or more years
Part-time employees working 40 hours or more in a pay period accrue PTOs at half the PTO rate of full-time employees.
Last but certainly not least, you will discover that the employees at PGH are welcoming, supportive, and family-oriented. Our team works together with a shared commitment to provide exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service. Collaboration, respect, and a willingness to help one another are at the heart of everything we do.
