The Foundation Donates $200,000 to Putnam General Hospital
EATONTON, GA - February 28, 2014. The PGH Foundation donated $200,000 to Putnam General Hospital on Friday, February 28th. The funds will be used to purchase a mobile X-Ray C-arm and for Meaningful Use Stage 2 upgrades that include software, computer and wireless network upgrades. "Putnam General Hospital extends its sincere gratitude to the Foundation for their overwhelming support," said CEO, Alan Horton. "This donation will help us to continue to provide high quality medical care to our patients and to our community."
A mobile C-arm is a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology and can be used in various Ors. This device provides high resolution X-ray images in real time, thus allowing the physician to monitor progress at any point during the operation and immediately make any corrections that may be required. Consequently, the treatment results are better and patients recover more quickly. Hospitals benefit from cost savings through fewer follow-up operations and from minimized installation efforts.
Meaningful Use Stage 2 upgrades, as required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, places an emphasis on health information exchange between providers to improve care coordination for patients, including a higher thresholds for ePrescribing, the addition of clinical laboratory test results, and electronic transmission of summary of care records across unaffiliated providers, settings and EHR systems.
"The Foundation puts a great deal of effort and energy into this worthwhile charity so when we are able to hand over that much money, it is truly rewarding." said Dr. Betzel, Foundation President. The funds were generated through individual donations, as well as, a number of projects that take place throughout the year.
