Scott Ludwig, MD, Appointed as Medical Director of
Emergency Medicine at Putnam General Hospital

Eatonton, GA - September 13, 2013. Putnam General Hospital is proud to announce that Scott Ludwig, M.D. ABEM is the new Medical Director of Putnam General Hospital's Emergency Department. Dr. Ludwig has over 34 years of emergency medical experience and is employed by TeamHealth. He will oversee the day-to-day operations in the Putnam General Hospital's Emergency Department as well as serving as one of the emergency department staff physicians.

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in science, Ludwig earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa's Roy J. and Lucille R. Carver College of Medicine in 1977. He was selected Most Outstanding Medical School Graduate of 1977, Most Outstanding Student in the Field of Pathology, most Outstanding Student in the Field of Anatomy, and Student Fellow and Instructor of Pathology. He is Board Certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Ludwig is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and a member of the American College of Emergency Medicine.

In the role of medical director, emergency medicine, Dr. Ludwig will ensure exceptional clinical performance across the emergency medicine department at Putnam General Hospital.

"With his experience as an emergency medicine physician and as a leader, I can't think of an individual better suited to strengthen our emergency medicine program."
Dr. Ludwig lives in Del Webb at Lake Oconee with his wife Kathryn. He has three grown children Sarah, Nicholas and Katie. Two of his children have followed him in the field of medicine with Nicholas serving as a Radiologist in the U.S. Air Force and Katie working as an Occupational Therapist in Dalton, Georgia. Dr. Ludwig has been a resident of Georgia since 2009 and is very pleased to now call the lake country his home.
