PUTNAM GENERAL HOSPITAL EXPANDS ITS DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING SERVICES

Eatonton, GA - August 24, 2016 - Putnam General Hospital has expanded its diagnostic imaging services with the addition of a nuclear medicine laboratory equipped with a dual-head Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) system. Nuclear medicine examinations are noninvasive, safe, and painless procedures that are used to diagnose and manage the treatment of cancer, heart disease, brain, gastrointestinal, lung, bone, kidney, and thyroid disorders.

The hospital celebrated the new laboratory with a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by the Chamber of Commerce at the Open House event that took place on August 11, 2016. Members of the community and hospital staff gathered to tour the new laboratory and speak with the cardiologists and technologists that perform and interpret the nuclear medicine examinations.

Chief Nursing Officer, Pam Douglas, has waited over 20 years for Putnam General Hospital to have a nuclear laboratory so that the community could benefit from the type of procedures that can be performed with this system.

The new addition continues to support the hospital's mission to make a positive difference in the lives of the patients and community, and Putnam General Hospital invites all members of the community to discover the value that nuclear medicine examinations can offer.
