PGH Health Fair 2009
EATONTON, Ga. (January 13, 2009)— Health Fair 2009 is just around the corner! Putnam General Hospital will be hosting their annual health fair on Saturday, April 25th from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the hospital. There will be health information booths along with free health screenings and blood work offered.
“This is a great event for the community, and we’re happy to offer our medical tests at a reduced rate for this event,” said Lindsey Hydrick, Health Fair Coordinator. “Last year we had over 250 people attend, and we’re hoping this year will be even bigger!”
FREE Health Screenings
Putnam General is proud to offer the community several free health screenings at this year’s fair. Nurses from Putnam General will be checking blood pressure and offering free finger-stick glucose tests. You do not have to fast before these tests.
A More Detailed Look
Would you like a more in-depth look at your health? The hospital is once again offering Complete Blood Work and PSA tests at a reduced rate. If you would like to have this blood work done, please do not eat 12 hours prior to the test. The complete blood work includes a complete blood check, a lipid profile, and a comprehensive chemistry panel. The lipid profile will check cholesterol, triglyceride levels, HDL, and LDL cholesterol. The comprehensive chemistry panel checks to make sure the liver and kidneys are functioning properly and checks the electrolyte levels of your blood.
Did you know that a blood test can detect prostate cancer in men? Putnam General will be offering this test, called a PSA test, at the health fair. The test is offered year-round in the Lab at Putnam General, so if you do not make it to the health fair, be sure to ask your doctor about having a PSA test done.
If you are interested in having the Complete Blood Work or the PSA test done, please go to the Specialty Center entrance on the day of the health fair. You do not have to sign up in advance, and insurance will not be accepted. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. A copy of your results will be mailed to you. You will also be asked to list your current doctor so that a copy of your blood work can be sent to the doctor’s office for review.
This event is free and open to the community. Parking will be available in the hospital parking lot. If you have any questions about the health tests offered or would like more information, please contact Lindsey Hydrick, Health Fair Coordinator, at 706-923-2028.
